The growing interest in web series for Indians during lockdown is the new form of entertainment. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney hot star, these apps along with its series have become a way for binge watching and killing time.
However, recently Amazon prime has come up with a new series named ‘Rasbhari’, Starring Swara Bhasker as an English teacher with a mysterious sex-obsessed alter ego, Rasbhari is directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat and created by Tanveer Bookwala and Shantanu Srivastava.
The prime’s show has now become a meme material on twitter. The series has gathered a lot of Hullabaloo on twitter, where people are making obscene comments for the actor. A post tweeted by Swara, where she called herself a ‘hot teacher’ and asked people to relive their adolescent infatuation with ‘Rasbhari’, is especially getting trolled.
Nonetheless, the series has created a great opportunity for Indian parents to step forward and talk about sexual wellbeing with their kids. Parents can inform and guide their kids by having a conversation with them and not portraying ‘Sex’ as a taboo.
It is ironical that a series is being trolled for its bold scenes, misleading students to the path of sexual fantasies and not being able to fit into the Indian culture and society, however no one raised any question over movies like ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’.
Even in the 21st century, where we blow the trumpet of feminism, society still enjoys pulling women down with every possible move. Instead of changing perceptions, there are still some people in the society who believe in ‘Slut-Shaming’ and ‘Body-Shaming.’
Swara has also been trolled earlier. People demanded for arresting the actress as she was accused of inciting violence among communities during CAA protest.
Th actress had gathered a lot of hatred when #Arrestswarabhaskar was trending on twitter. She responded by saying, “And that my friend is why most celebrities in India only raise voices against elephants”.
