In a new development in the Delhi violence case, few days ago, Delhi Police filed a charge sheet in connection with the killings of Muslims during the Delhi violence that took place in February.
Police has arrested at least 9 people who were in the WhatsApp group called ‘Kattar Hindut Ekta’. According to the charge sheet, the group was created on 25th February and had about 125 members. The group was used by the members to coordinate the riots. Many members of the group actively took part in the riot. When initially created, the group had 125 members but by the first week of March, around 50 had left the group.
Lakesh Solanki, one of the 9 accused, on 26th February sent this message in the said group, “Tumhare bhai ne abhi 9 baje k karib b. vihar me 2 mulla mare hai…aur nale me fenke hai…apni team ke sath…tumhe pata hai na ki tumhara bhai sabse aage rahta hai aise kamo me.”
Among the 9 accused, there’s Lakesh Solanki, Pankaj Sharma, Sumit Chaudhary, Ankit Chaudhary, Prince, Jatin Sharma, Rishab Chaudhary, Vivek Panchal, and Himanshu Thakur. The charge sheet against the accused has been filed under FIR no 102, 103, and 104 at the Gokulpuri police station for the murder of Hamza, Aamin, Bhure Ali, Mursalin, Aas Mohd, Musharraf, Akil Ahmed, and Hashim Ali and his elder brother Aamir Khan.
The charge sheet also mentions how the accused were identifying Muslims by asking their names or seeing their ID’s. They were then forced to chant ‘jai shri ram’ and those who didn’t, were attacked with deadly weapons like iron rods, lathi, sticks, danda, or guns. It also mentions that their bodies were thrown into main Ganga Nala, Bhagirathi vihar, delhi.
According to the chargesheet, the chats from the group can be seen as ‘extra judicial confessions’ that have been further fortified by an eye witness.
