Irfan Pathan Claps Back to Haters on His Tweet on Racism

Irfan Pathan is among the select few who is known to raise his voice and concern on the important issues

For a sport known as a gentleman’s game, not every player conforms to that ideology. Irfan Pathan is among the select few who is known to raise his voice and concern on the important issues, mostly through his microblogging site.

This time yet again, the all-rounder used twitter to share his observation on racism. On 9th June, Irfan shared a tweet that read, “Racism is not related to the colour of the skin. Not allowing to buy a home in a society just because you have a different faith is a part of racism too.”

His tweet came in the light of ongoing protests against racism in US. The country saw a nation-wide protest after the killing of George Floyd by 4 Minneapolis police officers.

As it always happens, people on twitter had different reactions to his tweet. The negative reactions were mainly from the usual hate mongers. Even then, Irfan maintained his stand and clapped back at the haters by tweeting next day, “My opinions are always as an Indian and for India, I will not stop…”

Not giving heed to any negativity, pathan on 12 june tweeted, “Main mere makaan se mohabbat krta hoo lekin usme mein rahne wale sabhi logo se nai….ye kaise ho sakta hai?or agar hota hai to nuksaan kiska hota hai? #unity #love”. “I love my house, but I don’t love everyone living in that house…how is that possible? And even if it does happen, then who’s loss is it?”

A large section of twitter is well known to be islamophobic. So when a minority concerning opinion like this comes from someone of that that community itself, then it’s a given that islamophobics will be triggered. But there were many showed appreciation for his courage.
